Philosophy

A CONCEPT, A PHILOSOPHY, MORE THAN A BRAND …

We live today in an extraordinary consumer society, everything looks alike, accumulates, is thrown away, becoming too quickly “has been”.

We no longer know where and how, what we eat, drink and wear is being produced…

iKKim’O is timeless, authentic, conscious, different…

Above all, it is a small production, back to the roots of “less is more” or “buy quality, not quantity”!

Everything is made locally. The production chain is short, but the process remains long and slow.

Hence the use of the term “slow fashion”, literally and figuratively.

I surround myself with several artisans, with whom I developed an effective work-flow and exchange.

I set new standards for them, mine sometimes far different from theirs. Their calmness, their way of living taught me that ultimately, there are hardly any problems, often just solutions.

Each piece is unique, one of a kind, hand made with love. Only a few designs exist, thoroughly reviewed, endlessly, season after season.

The pieces are mainly made from artisanal weaving, generally cotton, new, old, recycled and reworked (nothing is lost), coming from various Indonesian islands or Southeast Asia, occasionally elsewhere…

The patterns and materials differ in accordance with the peer provenance, reflecting the origin or the culture of the people, of the craftsmen who wove them.

Most importantly. This craft preserves the know-how of the ethnic minorities from which they come from.

Every fewer, they dedicate their lives to it.

They spend days, weeks, sometimes months making just one.

I can’t help but think about it every day as I wear them…
